ROSARY BASKETBALL

The Rosary Basketball Program is one of the most well-known and successful programs in both the county and state.  The program is frequently ranked in the county’s top-ten and boasts several players continuing their basketball careers at Division I colleges.  The program has three levels, frosh-soph, junior varsity, and varsity, and competes in the winter months.  With try-outs and training beginning in the summer, the basketball team takes the month of August off and then resumes its after school conditioning in the fall to prepare for the Trinity League, which is comprised of Mater Dei, Orange Lutheran, J Serra, and Santa Margarita.  Rosary’s Karcher Center is our home court with games staggered from 4 PM (frosh-soph) to 7 PM (varsity).

This season started out with a 5-0 record to win the Fullerton Tournament.  Led by senior point guard Kellie Grenier, the team was ranked in the top ten in the county and top 20 in the state.  They finished with an overall record of 19-13 and lost in the quarterfinals of CIF. Despite not having a player over 5-10 and losing key players to graduation, the Royals never missed a beat from last year.  Their hard work and dedication once again made them a formidable force in the county and the toughest league in the state. Their tough defensive mentality gave them the edge as they beat Estancia of Costa Mesa in the first round of CIF 52-8.

Seniors Kellie Grenier (First Team) and Kelly Cole (Second Team) were named to the Trinity All-League team. Kellie Grenier was also named to the Orange County North/South All-Star Game.
