ROSARY SOFTBALL

Congratulations!

Senior Alexandra Fieldhouse has earned a scholarship to play softball at East Carolina University!

The Rosary Softball Program is one of the most successful sports in school history.  Softball was the first sport at Rosary to win a CIF championship, to be ranked in the top 10 of Orange County, and to achieve state and national rankings.  The program regularly sends several athletes yearly to play college ball upon graduation; one recent 4-year stretch saw 14 of 17 seniors accept softball scholarships.  From five straight Catholic Division championships in the early '70s to more recent league championships, the softball program continues to be a source of pride and promise for Rosary Athletics. The program boasts both varsity and junior varsity squads, and the two teams share off-campus game and practice facilities at the Clark Regional Park softball complex on the north side of Rosecrans Ave. between Beach and Gilbert in Fullerton.

 2008-2009 Season in Review

The softball team had an up-and-down year despite lofty pre-season expectations.  The Royals were ranked in OC’s pre-season top 5, but injuries claimed many key players and it’s doubtful that the team was ever at full strength.  One good stretch of play had the Royals at 4-0 in the incredibly tough league.  When the dust cleared, the team sat at 5-3, one game out of first.  A first round CIF loss to Riverside Poly put the Royals’ final record at 14-15.  Despite the injuries and struggles, several Royals were honored for their performances: senior Alex Peyton earned her second Trinity League Pitcher of the Year award; seniors Caitrin DeBaun and Briana Magdaleno and junior Alex Fieldhouse were named first team all league; and juniors Alyssa Gonzales and Michele Fenstermaker and sophomore Dominique Lawrence were given second team honors.  Peyton, DeBaun, and Magdaleno were chosen to participate in the senior All Star Games, and senior Michelle Hanson was named Trinity League Athlete of the Year after lettering in Cross country, Tennis, and Softball.
