ROSARY TENNIS Rosters have been posted for the 2010 season. It promises to be a great year for the Rosary Tennis team! Rosary’s Tennis Program participates during the fall season. With two levels, junior varsity and varsity, the program has made a name for itself thanks to the dedication of its 23rd-year coach, Dick Fumanti. Tennis players begin try-outs and practices in the summer and compete until November. Our home court is the Fullerton Tennis Center on Harbor Blvd. next to St. Jude’s Hospital. When our varsity plays at home, our junior varsity plays at the opponent’s school and vice versa. Rosary plays both doubles and singles tennis and also participates in many pre-league matches to prepare for league play starting in October.
2008/2009 Season in Review: Last fall, the tennis team enjoyed a third place finish in the Trinity League. Seniors Jen and Liz Buchanan, along with sophomore Lily Chapin, participated in the league individual finals. Jen played brilliantly to finish 3rd in league, while Liz and Lily each made the top 8. Senior Christina Buchanan and sophomore Alex Collell played doubles in the league tournament, where they finished 4th. Overall, the team advanced to CIF but lost in the first round of the playoffs.
