The Rosary Water Polo team has a very successful history. With ’00 graduate and former team member Natalie Golda, a UCLA All-American and Olympic bronze and silver medalist for the US Water Polo team, the program boasts both league championships and two CIF championships (1998, 1999). The team currently has two levels and competes during the winter. Our home pool is at Servite High School, and the competitive Trinity League is made up of Rosary, Santa Margarita, Mater Dei, and JSerra. Tryouts begin in the summer.
In 2010, the Royal polo team played a brutal non-league schedule against the finest teams in Southern California -- including CIF Champions and most of the OC Top Ten (of which we were a staple). The preparations paid off, as the Royals captured a share of their first league championship in 11 years, due mostly to a thrilling victory over Santa Margarita and a dominating performance over JSerra. Their CIF opponent was Edison, whom they twice had lost to by resounding margins during the regular season. The facts that we led going into the fourth and narrowly missed victory was a testament to a team peaking at the right time.
