Although our winter athletes endured a
somewhat tough season, all teams gave it their all and enjoyed themselves.Beginning with basketball, the Royals placed
5th in the Trinity League while the JV and F/S teams finished in the 4th spot.For her efforts on the court, senior Danielle
Ekno was named to the Trinity League’s First Team while her junior teammate
Emily McCoy was named to the Second Team.Outstanding leadership was shown by senior leader Kelly Jones, who
captained a talented group of athletes including freshmen and sophomores on varsity.
The soccer team also endured a tough season
in the Trinity League.Both the Varsity
and JV teams ended in 5th place.Senior
captain Christina Wald made the Trinity League’s First Team for her outstanding
performance.Wald played nearly every position
on the field for the Royals while battling ankle and back injuries.Wald’s teammate, junior Lauren Olvera, was
named to the league’s Second Team for her impressive contribution.
Once again, the water polo teams enjoyed
the most success of our winter season.The Varsity team finished Trinity League play in the 2nd spot and
advanced to CIF; JV ended in the 3rd spot; and our F/S team tied for the league
championship. The league honored sophomore Hannah Croghan with the prestigious
MVP award while Croghan’s sister Katie was honored with a First Team
selection.Senior Katelyn Solis was also
honored with a First Team honor.In
addition, Katie Rigler, Krystle Morgan, and Mary Doherty were named to the
Second Team.Hannah Croghan also earned
2nd Team All-CIF honors while her teammate Katelyn Solis earned 3rd Team
All-CIF honors.
